Frequently asked questions
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), often called "tapping," is a mind-body approach that combines gentle tapping on acupressure points with mindful awareness. Research suggests it can help reduce stress, anxiety, and negative emotions while increasing calm and resilience.
There are currently approximately 400 published papers in peer reviewed journals, including 70 randomized controlled trials demonstrating its efficacy. Bailey incorporates the same form of EFT, known as Clinical EFT, that is used in these studies.

Emotional Freedom Techniques combine gentle tapping on acupressure points with mindful focus on distressing thoughts or situations. This process is a form of exposure therapy that helps the brain reframe how it perceives stress. Research shows that Clinical EFT can calm the body’s stress response in a short time, leading to less fear, worry, and anxiety around speaking situations. Over time, situations that once felt overwhelming often feel less stressful, leading to greater ease and confidence in speaking.
Clinical EFT may help lower the anxiety, fear, or self-doubt that often accompany speaking. Many people who stutter notice that when they feel more comfortable and confident, they experience less tension and struggle in their speech. EFT can support confidence, positive thinking, and fuller participation in life. If you’d like to try it yourself my self-guided video program is a great place to start.
I take a neurodiverse, mind-body approach: it’s OK to stutter. My work is also trauma-informed, meaning I recognize how past experiences and the body’s stress response can influence stuttering. By integrating Clinical EFT into our sessions, I help your mind and your body heal those past wounds, supporting you to calm the nervous system, build confidence, and strengthen the connection between mind and body, and show up more completely for all of your interactions. My ultimate goal is to help you say what you want, when you want, with confidence—whether or not you stutter.
